Sublime Text 4 Website States Compatibility with Windows 7

At the time of this writing - Feb 28, 2022 - the Sublime Text website states that Sublime Text 4 is compatible with the Windows 7 operating system (ref. link below).

However, the free Sublime Text 4 version does not run on the Windows 7 computer here (Intel i7 CPU, 32 GB RAM, much more than adequate space on the SSD, etc.), and there are at least two Sublime Text forum posts referencing the same problem. In the case here, clicking on the “sublime_text.exe” file results in the immediate generation of a “.dmp” file and no other Sublime Text activity.

I can successfully run Sublime Text 4126 on a virtualized Windows 7 64bit. I think there is some kind of incompatibility or bug on your specific system, it is not a general problem with Windows 7.

I vaguely remember that it only works after a certain version of Windows 7 (like SP1 or something?).

Clean Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x64.
Build 4121 runs only after Windows6.1-KB2999226-x64 installation
Build 4126 - install success, but application window even doesn’t appear - process just stopped:

Maybe the latest depends on other updates I am not sure since I just install all updates via something like UpdatePack7R2-22.6.15.exe (disclaimer: I don’t guarantee any security for that). ST 4126 do run in my Win7 VM.

ST 4134 runs as well.

You’re right, just install updates which was deployed after SP1 and ST works
