ST3 is broken after freshly installed state

#1

Hi I was hoping someone might be able to point out the mistakes I made in reverting to freshly installed state please

Error loading colour scheme Packages/User/SBSCompareScheme.hidden-color-scheme: top level value must be a map

though removing that package has made no difference.
and also all my auto corrections are in triplicate

multicopySMALL

I’ve only got one copy of the User file and renamed the backups as Yooser, in case it just read anything with the word user in the file title, which would be completely mad, but I’m desparate at this point (8hrs down the pan with everything that’s happened so far since yesterday: because of some spaces that didn’t show up in a .cpp file but did show up in a plain text file :rage:)

Ironically I can’t go over to VSCode, because it’s only 64bit…And I really feel like going over (And I’m sure I’m now gonna get a load of folks telling me to “jeff” off (sorry to any Jeffs there) because ST is the most amazing thing on the planet. Well it isn’t ATM.
Work flow destroyed, at a good point too…

Sorry so bitter the old sine wave of ST3 is at a low ebb. Just a straight line would be nice, or a gentle increase f(x)=log(x) for example…

Fixed one thing, the multiple auto completes.
Turns out even if your User folder is called MrNippleTwoddlecheeseyBumkinBrian PothleswaiteslipperWaffle, it’ll be read, hence even folder called Yooser Back Up Yesterday, were being read, hence everythning was in triplicate.
Moved them off the HD, problem gone.

However all the trouble with CompareSideBySide even after removing, erasing the folder CompareSideBySide from installed packes and restarted the coputer, CompareSideBySide is still being “registered” by ST3. Nothing I do gets rid of it. I was figuring a reinstall of the package, but no ! Ug

After turning off and on again, it now works ! Have the folks at sublime managed to create self healing code, looks like it. Well done team !
Bit bizzare though…

Folders in the Packages folder represent the names of packages (hence the name). The only thing that makes User unique is that semantically its contents are always loaded last so that any customizations you make there override the core experience and anything else added by other packages.

In all other regards, User is a package like any other; it can contain plugins, syntaxes, menu enhancements, preferences, key bindings, etc.

As such, don’t duplicate any folder in Packages unless your intent is to have multiple copies of the same package installed, all with slightly different names, which is almost certainly not what you want.
