You probably have an issue with your color scheme.
In my case, the same issue is visible with the default Monokai scheme.

As a quick fix, you can install and use the “MonokaiFree” package

I am there are many of scope tweaks during this year and thus may fail 3rd-party color schemes.

Yes, it seems to be the issue with default Monokai scheme. Isn’t this scheme shipped with sublime? I don’t remember installing any 3rd party schemes.
