I’d like to customize the Word Wrap behavior of Sublime Text in these two cases:
- when the caret is at the soft line end (i.e. at the end of a word-wrapped part of a line);
- when the soft line end is at a quote character.
Let me illustrate the first point (caret is at the soft line end). The | represents the caret position.
The actual behavior - when the caret reaches the soft line end, it remains on the same visual line:
... very long line |
continues here
The desired behavior - when the caret reaches the soft line end, it jumps to the very beginning of the next visual line:
... very long line
|continues here
Why it matters? Because the caret is actually placed at the beginning of the next word - and the desired behavior perfectly shows that. Whereas the actual behavior creates an impression that the caret is not at the beginning of the next word.
I believe this behavior can be achieved by a custom sublime_plugin.EventListener, but AI’s attempt to create one did not result in the desired behavior.
Maybe there is something existing already? Or maybe somebody could help with creating one?
Now let me illustrate the second point (avoid word-wrap on quote characters).
Here is the actual behavior:
... very long line "
continues here" ...
To me, word-wrapping at a quote character is a very bad idea.
I would highly prefer this:
... very long line
"continues here" ...
