[Windows BUG] Sublime cannot detect file/folder change on network path

#1

Maybe a FAQ and bug

I map a network drive on Windows from a Linux samba share. And open folder to edit files/folders inside.

When I changed some files and folders at Linux end, Sublime has no awareness.

Even I create file or folder in Sublime on that network drive, the up-to-date stuffs will not show up at once. But I checked the samba host and the files/folders are already committed.

What version of Sublime Text are you using?

Window network shares don’t support file system notifications, so Sublime Text will not show sidebar changes when files are added or removed.

If you are editing a file on the network share, it should be able to detect changes and tell you if the file changes.

I am using Win 64bit v3143. The strange thing (or i may misunderstand) is, the is an item of “folder update/refresh” in project menu. I clicked it and it did not update either.

Maybe there is any manually update can be triggered? I am okay to deal with it. Microsoft Visual Studio Community can handle this by a manual refresh.

This should definitely rescan the entire folder on the file share. Is it perhaps taking a little while to complete?
