Hi,
I’m just getting into coding and wanted to start off by keeping my files and folders logically organized? I realized that when I tried to create a new folder under the root directory (‘Macintosh HD’) or a subfolder under my main user folder, Lion says they are read-only. I do not see an obvious problem with creating subfolders under these main folders, but I am very wary of overriding the default permissions settings. Can someone explain to me why the aforementioned folders would be read-only by default? I could create folders under the Documents folder (which is read-write,) but somehow it seems counterintuitive to put code under a folder by that name. Sorry if I’m not using the correct terminology. I’m completely new to this game.
Thanks a million,
Loominator
