Why does console prompt "Unable to find target command "?

As the title says, every time i want to build (ctrl+B) . the console will prompt “Unable to find target command: exec”. Still have no clue.
No matter which build system i choose, (C++, ruby, make etc), this error stands still.
I’m using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
