View -> syntax -> sub-menu not working

i have a file open (ext = .tpl - don’t ask!) and i want to switch the syntax view to be the same as html, so view -> syntax -> html i thought, but view -> syntax -> and nothing happens, no sub-menu appears for any kind of file now

ST4 (4116) on linux

if anybody has any idea i would appreciate help

Does that also happen in Safe Mode?

do you have the focus in an input panel (find panel etc) or anything? That can cause syntax menu items to be disabled.

no nothing else is focused - all other sub-menus work as expected - i will check safe mode

This doesn’t happen on my end. Are you seeing any errors in the console?

Can you provide the full console output?

Can you just share a GIF of you trying to access the said sub menu. Maybe it will be easier to diagnose the problem if we have a visual look at what you are doing.

There is always something logged in the console. Just to clarify the Sublime Text console can be opened using View > Show Console.

I get that given your initial post, but I don’t think there is any harm in us seeing it happen in safe mode through a GIF. Often you pick up things easily when it’s visual than by just saying about it. But I understand if you can’t post one for whatever reasons.
