Vertical dash "|"

Hello. When switching from one file to another, there used to be a vertical dash “|” in the document by default. Now it disappears - until you click on the document. How can I enable it so that it is displayed in the document by default as before?

Does it happen in Safe Mode?

Note also that the cursor position(s) in a file are independent of the part of the file that’s currently visible. When this happens, does pressing one of the error keys make the cursor visible?
