Using subl often (but not always) crashes the whole ST3 if it's already running

#1

This has been happening for a number of years, but I just ignored it, because I don’t close ST3 often. This can be very annoying however in those moments when you do need to restart it, or just open an additional project.

  1. You shut down ST3 (for whatever rare reason), and use subl [some-project] or subl . to reopen it. First window opens fine. You wait until all the startup Package Control activity finished (to be extra cautious). (Alternatively, you had ST3 running, and decided to open additional project).
  2. You run another subl to open another project (the issue seems to occur regardless of whether you’re opening a project with subl some.sublime-project or just current dir with subl .).
  3. ST3 immediately crashes completely. No freezing, no warnings, just quits, disappears like you never started it.
  4. You start opening with subl again, and if you’re lucky, 3-4 attempts later it works.
  5. And you better not want to open another project/folder while you’re in the middle of something, with a bunch of ST3 windows already carefully positioned. You might crash everything and disrupt your workflow for a while.

Did anyone else observe this? Has been happening on all versions up to the current ST3 build 3210.

I’d be happy to be charged a recurring subscription for these things to be fixed regularly. Don’t care much about new features, just making it bug free and resilient to plugin problems, or making it easier to identify issues.

Have you tried reverting to a freshly installed state?
