Update on the Sublime Text Flatpak situation

#1

Hello everyone!

This isn’t a support request or technical issue - it’s simply an update to keep you informed about the current status of Sublime Text on Flathub.

A Flatpak version of Sublime Text was initially made without any approval from SublimeHQ. While it was widely used by many users, it remained based on Sublime Text 3 — an outdated, and no longer supported version.

There was an earlier attempt to create a proper Sublime Text 4 (ST4) Flatpak, which was approved by the team. The condition being that it was clearly shown that it’s unofficial and that issues related to the Flatpak shouldn’t be submitted here. However, a disagreement emerged over how to clearly label the Flatpak as non-official. In the end, the effort was ultimately abandoned.

That’s where my involvement began. I’m actively using and promoting immutable Linux systems like Bazzite, and a friend of mine uses Sublime Text regularly. When I noticed the Flathub version was still on ST3, I decided to take over and finish the work.

Last month, ST3 was marked End Of Life by Flathub maintainers - making it urgent to deliver an updated version. And finally - last week - the ST4 Flatpak was published on Flathub.

As the current maintainer of this Flatpak, I’ve redone the screenshots and metadata to comply with Flathub’s Quality Guidelines, and I’m happy to help with Flatpak-related feedback.

Hello Mimolet,

Great work! Thanks for making the disclaimer nice and clear.

I hope your friend (and yourself?) enjoy the new version,
