Update instructions for new Linux user

Hi, I’m using the latest LInux Mint Cinnamon. I have checked the update manager, as well as commands sudo apt update/upgrade to no avail. I have downloaded the new tar.bz2 program file from the site, and as per instructions from another forum, I am to go to my previous program file, uninstall from there, then re-install from the new one.

However, I installed the app via the software manager, so I don’t have a previous program file. Plus I’m not sure how to install the new program from the tar.bz2 file. The software manager is only showing the previous build (not the 3211 build), so I am looking for instructions on how to update.

Did you follow the instructions on https://www.sublimetext.com/docs/3/linux_repositories.html ?

Hi, that worked, thanks.

That link would be handy if it was available on the download page that the user is brought to after being asked if they want to update from within the program.
