Unicode character selection

#1

I work with Arabic script. It is essential for me to be able to select each single unicode character individually and to have only one direction for rendering, so that I can see clearly the logical sequence of characters and diacritics are not joined to adjacent letters. This means that I need to be able to select “ب” and "َ ", and to see them one after the other, but with the new release I can’t.

I just cannot work anymore. Is there a way to disable bidirectionality and have each unicode character separated??

Actually, there is no bidirectionality, that was a mistake in my explanation. But diacritics are fused with the base letters they accompany. They can be removed individually, but they cannot be selected! If you try to select them, you will get the base letter and the diacritic together. And what is worse, if I write a sequence of diacritics, e.g. "ًٌٍَُِ ", they will be visually represented in the same space, each one on top of the others. It’s a visual mess. You cannot see anything. And of course, you cannot select them. So it is just impossible to work.

I just check other editors. Visual studio code supports selection. Unfortunately, it supports bidirectionality too, which is a problem for example if I am writing regular expressions (it makes code difficult to understand). But at least I could work with it.

Please, I would really appreciate if you provide any solution for the problem of selection, while keeping unidirectionality. If not, I wouldn’t have other option but to use another editor.
