Unable to save syntax specific settings: "Error: Permission denied"

#1

I just got a new work computer and I’m unable to save my SQL syntax specific settings.

Here is the error message I’m getting:

Unable to save ~/Library/Application Support/Sublime Text 3/Packages/User/SQL.sublime-settings Error: Permission denied

Does anyone have insight into what I’m missing here / how to resolve?

I would think that you should have full permission to write to files in your own home directory, but it may be worth double checking the permissions and owner on that file and on your User package in Finder to make sure that it’s owned by and writable by your user.

For example, if you launch Sublime with elevated permissions on Linux, the OS creates files and folders owned by the elevated user, but in your home directory. That leaves you with files and folders you can’t access.

I’m not sure offhand if that’s possible on MacOS, though.
