Greetings…
My apologies if this issue has already been covered somewhere else, I have searched the forum and online but I couldn’t find anything that specifically covered the issues I’m having.
I’m running ST3 build 3065 on two computers, one is Win7 x64 the other is Win8 x64. As per numerous tutorials I found on various different forums and blog posts, I moved my “%APPDATA%\Sublime Text 3\Packages\User” into a Google Drive folder and setup a symlink to the original path. The theory is that any packages I install/update on one machine get synced to the other through my Drive… In practice though, this doesn’t work quite as well as I’d hoped.
According to this page, syncing the entire packages folder is a bad idea (I am using different operating systems), but after making changes on one PC, when I look on the other, certain packages refuse to work even though they still show as installed.
The most notable is my selected theme (Seti_UI), which I enable using Themr. Each time I move from one machine to the other and launch ST3:
-
the theme reverts back to the default
-
it is not listed in Themr
-
it must be uninstalled and reinstalled before it will load
This morning I noticed the Seti_UI package doesn’t actually install to the folder I’m syncing though, it sits one folder up in the “%APPDATA%\Sublime Text 3\Packages” folder. Even using Package Control’s “Upgrade/Overwrite All Packages” option doesn’t get it working again. Any ideas how I can get around this?
[edit] The theme issue mentioned above is an unrelated point in this case (see here), in which case I suspect syncing my packages folder could actually be working as I intended. I’ll try this again once I’ve worked out the updating issue.
