Too many bugs?

#1

Hi,

Thinking about buying SublimeText but, in less than 5 minutes of use:

  • Did a ‘Find in Files’, forgot to enter anything in the ‘Where’ and the app crashed. This is reproducible.
  • Filtered a set of lines out of a largish file with a pattern like ’ ^((?!foo)(?!bar).)*$\n’ and the match failed with a ‘Ran out of stack space…’. TextWrangler worked fine with the same file set / pattern.

Is Sublime really buggy or was this just plain unlucky? How long will it take to get fixes for issues like this?

Thanks.

I just did a search with find in files with an empty where field and it did not crash. I’ve never had any issues with running out of stack space, but could be that I just haven’t looked over large enough files. With that in mind, I’d like to say you were just unlucky. That aside, the time to fix an issue is unknown. I won’t get into it, but there was a long discussion about ST being alive or not.

An empty ‘Where’ in ‘Find in Files’ looks in all open files and folders. I haven’t had any issues but I supposed it could choke with a large enough project.

ST sometimes hangs when finding and replacing regex in very large files (300,000+ lines). But, hey, that’s what sed is for
