Text displaying incorrectly

#1

I reopened sublime text for the first time in a long while (a few years, I’m running sublime text 2 but it worked last time I opened it) and all my files are displaying borderline unreadable text
As an example:
15
This happens with all my files, create new file, change colors, reset font, restart program. Anyone know what’s up and how to fix it? Should I just download the newest version?

Not as big of an issue but also if I open files in sublime text using the file -> open recent menu they show up as completely empty. Luckily they open fine from just clicking them, but if this has a fix I’d love to be directed to that too please!

ST2 does not support high resolution displays, at least on Windows (not sure about Linux/Mac). As a result OS scales the rendered 96dpi bitmap content, which results in blurry appereance.

This feature has been added in late ST3 builds.

Thanks for the response! However, I’m still a bit confused - I’ve never had a problem with it before when using the same device (2017 macbook air) and only updated my OS once since I last used the program (from .5 to .6, not a major overhaul). It used to be perfectly readable, colors and everything (google images st2 sort of stuff), and I have not reinstalled or updated st2. Could be I’m not understanding something you’ve written, how does this result in something that used to work fine ceasing to do so?

I can’t say much about MacOS. However, IIRC, recent versions of MacOS removed some font aliasing functions as those have been judged no longer useful with high resolution displays. Maybe that’s what affects text rendering in ST2.

If the only thing you did was updating OS, the reason is most likely related with that.

That said, time for ST2 is over anyway. It hasn’t been supported for ages and you probably shouldn’t expect any fix.

Maybe time to move ahead to ST4?

I actualy wonder whether it still works correctly, now that MacOS dropped python 2 which ST2 requires to run plugins.
