My text cursor no longer shows as I’m typing, now it erases anything that is there for example if I add a code function(), instead of it typing within the ( ) it overwrites it and anything else that comes after.
A better example I guess if I were to try typing var a = [“abc”] , I end up with var a = ["abc and then I have to add the " and ] again. This is driving me crazy. If I want to edit a piece of code of forgot a comma or something i can’t just add it.

It sounds like you might have accidentally switched from Insert mode to Overwrite mode? If so, pressing the insert let should help.
