When I show my tab bar, no tabs show up there. It is not hidden. The section for tabs appear, but whenever I open a file, no tab shows up in that section for that file. I tried deleting my data folder to simulate a fresh install, to no avail. Any help? Thanks.

I won’t go too into detail, but essentially you need to double click to open a file or begin to edit it to get a tab.
