Hi all, I’m trying to determine what this ‘long dash’ is when I open this file in Sublime Text. I tried ‘space’ or ‘tab’ but it does not produce this long dash (it produces dots instead). I don’t think it’s an en dash or em dash since it’s so much longer. When I hit backspace, it only backspaces one spot. But when I copy and paste it in another line it shows 3 dots which I assume is 3 spaces. Is the reason why it changed from a long dash to 3 spaces after copying it is due to the originator of the file is using a different application to create this file?
Super long dash, what keys generate this?

That sounds like a tab, a screenshot would confirm that. Depending on your settings and the file hitting tab may insert spaces instead. See View > Indentation.

Thanks for replying. See below for screenshot:
Rows 2 and 3 is from the original file with the dash that I am talking about. Row 4 is a tab I put in.

Yep, that’s a tab. As I said you’ve got View > Indentation > Indent Using Spaces enabled, so when pressing tab spaces are inserted instead.
