Sublime Text Freezes for 2-3 Seconds Upon Startup, Cursor Stuck on Loading (Build 4152)

Hello everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with Sublime Text (Build 4152) where it freezes for about 2-3 seconds upon startup. During this freeze, I can’t write anything, and the cursor is stuck on a loading state.

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

  • Disabled unnecessary plugins.
  • Cleared recent files and projects.
  • Checked for updates.
  • Removed large folders from the sidebar.
  • Created a new user profile.
  • Checked the console logs, nothing seems out of the ordinary.

I’ve also run Sublime in --debug mode but didn’t find anything that would hint at the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions on how to resolve the issue?

I just wanted to update this thread with the solution I found. Turns out, the issue was caused by Bitdefender’s Advanced Threat Defense. After adding an exception for Sublime Text, the problem was resolved.

Funny enough, I was troubleshooting this for weeks, and about an hour after posting this thread, I stumbled upon the solution myself!

Hopefully, this can help someone else who might be facing a similar issue.
