Later today the stable version of Sublime Text 3 with a bunch of bug fixes will be released. The official build number will be 3100, which means that development was still ongoing despite the lack of new dev builds. This decision was made to focus on fixing the major bugs without unecessary noise from thousands of testers and we were able to test the release candidates in a smaller testing environment.
Changes include:
-
Added APIs for the sidebar. This was a largely requested feature and we spent a lot of time finalizing it. See sublimetext.com/docs/3/api_reference.html for the reference.
-
Syntax highlight can now be achieved with a real parser. A lot of frustration was involved with the usage of regular expressions and the tmLanguage files so we added an alternative to that. Documentation can be found at sublimetext.com/docs/3/syntax.html
-
Updated documentation. Yes, you heard right. We updated the documentation to current standards and included a lot of information from the unofficial docs
. Go check it out. -
Speed ups for large files. We feel the pain of working with large files in Sublime Text and we improved load time of these a lot by removing a few speed-up loops
that we deemed necessary before. -
And finally, Sublime Package Control
, the popular package manager, will now be included by default into Sublime Text will continue to live as an open source project that everyone can contribute to. The package repository can be found here: github.com/wbond/sublime_package_control.
Thanks for your attention and we hope that you are as satisfied with this new release as we are.
The download will be added to sublimetext.com/3 later today.
