Sublime Text 3 crashes on Windows XP

I’d like to use an advanced text editor on my Windows XP machine, of which Sublime Text 3 3.2.2 (BUILD 3211) is the last supported release.

The problem I’m having is that the program keeps crashing when I try to run it. It’s a crapshoot as to whether it will silently crash when starting, or whether it will appear. If I leave Task Manager running, I can sometimes see it appear there briefly before disappearing.

This is on a clean install of Windows XP with SP3 and updates. I have not installed any plugins or custom configurations for Sublime Text. I’m not sure what the issue is. I recall using this just fine on Windows XP years ago.

Here is a video of me trying to open it. Only sometimes will it succeed.

This is a fast Core 2 Duo with 1GB of memory. It’s not particularly vintage and does not contain anything exotic.

Have you installed the right version for your architecture (32bit vs 64bit)?

Yes. This is 32-bit, so there is only one version that will work.

I suggest trying build 3176 and seeing if it happens there.

I tried version 3200, which gave me this popup error and had the same crash problem.

Version 3176 works fine though.

Does anyone know what the issue is with plugin_host and why these later versions are unstable?
