Sublime slow when working on files over VPN & SMB

#1

Hi,

ATM I am working remotely via OpenVPN and like to access the files via SMB instead of heaving a copy locally.

An option would be using SFTP and automatically deploy them to the remote host. But because this is my private laptop I’d like not to have them here.

When I open / save files this is extremely slow. Which is not the problem. The problem is that Sublime completely locks up and I have to wait until the progress is done. Is it possible to have files written asynchronously?

Thanks for reading.

I noticed the same. Sublime with SMB/VPN is horrible.

There is an outstanding issue for async save, but with the current pace that will never see the light of day. I’m still hoping Atom will pick up where Sublime left off but as it stands it’s even slower than Sublime.

What does help, is turning ‘atomic save’ off.

I still have this problem with the latest version.

Kind regards,

I’m having the same problem. I use a Mac. When I VPN into a network, Mac works fine. I can find files in the Finder fine. But Sublime hangs quite a bit when pulling in files. It can take 5-10 minutes for all the files to appear in Sublime.

This is still the most annoying issue with Sublime!
Folders load in extremely slowly in Sublime, while working fine through any other application.

Closing ALL the project windows and re-opening the current project only is a bit of a workaround, as that will then be the only folders sublime loads in.
