Sublime Setup

Hello,
I setup Sublime in Mac running Sierra 12, I through out Atom and wanted to try this editor.

Now I am completely lost! Wherever I attempt to open a file such as a plist using ‘open with’ from the menu,
I get a few characters on line one and that’s it. Either I am missing something here and have not stop something up or there is something wrong with the file. Isn’t Sublime a Full Text Editor that can open everything like Atom?

I have been doing design for a long time and have never encountered anything like this. My colleagues have recommended that I purchase this so I need your assistance to set it up. I thought this was just install and get to work!

Can you show us how looks like that “few characters”?
What version did you installed?
is your O.S in english?

Isn’t Sublime a Full Text Editor that can open everything like Atom?

Yes it is and it should open any text based file.

What encoding do your files use? I know about Sublime Text not supporting some eastern codecs. But everything like utf-8, utf-16, ascii and most european ANSI codecs should work.
