Sublime Merge rendering issue on Mac

#1

Version & System Info:

Sublime Merge Build 2054
Mac 11.2.3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 630 1536 MB
(I haven’t been using SM much on this particular Mac laptop, but I think I’ve seen this rendering issue way before I upgraded to Big Sur.)

I’ve tried disabling and enabling Hardware Acceleration, it makes no difference. The issue makes it practically unusable on this machine.

Is this a known issue? Am I missing a configuration somewhere?

Cheers

Did you restart between enabling/disabling hardware acceleration?

Hi @dekpient,

This can also happen if the theme is misconfigured.

Could you confirm you don’t have any custom themes overriding Sublime Merge?

  1. Open Sublime Merge and navigate to Preferences > Edit Settings...
  2. If you see an entry for "theme", then delete it
  3. Return to Sublime Merge, and select Preferences > Browse Packages...
  4. Navigate to the user folder
  5. Confirm there is no file called Merge.sublime-theme present, or in any subfolders. If there is, go ahead and remove it (by backing it up somewhere, and then deleting the original)

Thanks,
- Dylan

I had nothing in Packages and Packages/User, so that wasn’t it.
Then I tried renaming the existing ~/Library/Application Support/Sublime Merge and restarted. That fixed it.

I compared the content of the old directory and the newly generated one. Changed files are

  • *.sublime-syntax.cache
  • *.tmLanguage.cache
  • *.tmLanguage.rcache
  • Local/Session.sublime_session

Not all cache files changed though. I still have the old directory if you want me to dig deeper, but I’ll resolve this issue now.

Thanks @djohnston
