Sublime merge opens on startup

#1

Sublime merge launches itself on startup, opening also its window.

macOS Mojave
Version 10.14.4

Sublime merge Build 1107

Neither Merge nor Text have an option to launch themselves at system startup time.

I imagine that what you’re seeing here is that you had Merge open when you restarted your Mac at some point, and when it asked you if you wanted to keep the session and restore your running applications you said yes.

It’s been a while since I restarted mine so I can’t remember what the exact text is, but I think if you fully quit merge before you shut down or restart, it won’t open automatically on the next startup.

@OdatNurd

Thanks.

I must stress the Sublime Merge is the only application that does this. I will remove and reinstall to see if it persists.

MacOS might have a notion of apps to launch at startup like Windows does, I’m not sure. So there is some possibility that it might have gotten added there somehow if so.

Right click the dock icon for Sublime Merge & make sure Options -> Open at Login is unchecked. If that wasn’t checked, check the System Preferences under Users & Groups -> Login Items to make sure SM isn’t there either.

Thanks @srbs the latter did it! How it got there is a bit of a mystery, I never did anything special for SM.

I think you can mark technical support threads as solved somewhere somehow, but I haven’t created one myself and thus don’t know how.

There should be a button on one of the posts that lets you mark that response as the answer.
