Sublime Homepage not reacheable - no update availible

#1

Hi,
the homepage https://www.sublimetext.com/ is currently unavailable https://www.sublimehq.com/ against it. I buyed a license for ST3 and now i can’t load the latest build of ST3. I’m working with 3.126 (Release Date 23.09.2016!!). To my knowledge, the last version should be 3.2.2 build 3211.
I was able to pay immediately, the license was also available quickly, but I did not get an answer to questions about the problems and unavailable updates. I’m new to the forum and don’t know what’s going on. It is definitely not trustworthy. I am currently considering whether to cancel my payment due to the situation!
Can anyone tell me something about the current situation?

Andreas

the homepage is reachable for me, what if you try accessing it by ip address or check if you have some firewall rules blocking it?

HI,
Firewall? Then why do I come to the sublimehq (45.55.41.223) or sublimemerge (45.55.41.223) or forum.sublime (104.236.208.78) side? sublimetext has the same IP address as sublimehq & sublimemerge side. There is no ad blocker or anything like that causing trouble.
In my view, a local firewall is NOT the problem. I am on the forum page, 104.236.208.78, then connect via Products to sublimehq (45.55.41.223) and connect from there to sublimetext (also 45.55.41.223) and then I get the clear message www.sublimetext.com has rejected the connection.
This has nothing to do with the local firewall anymore. My IP address is 95.88.36.22, is it allowed or is it on a blacklist ??

Firewalls can deep inspect packets to drop requests not to specific ip addresses but specific websites. Considering you can access the other websites which are on the same webserver that would rule out any kind of IP blacklist on our end. Do other devices on your network have the same issue?

Hi,
you’re right, if i connect me from a lunix machine i become the session :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
On the PC I disable the windows defender and Firewall but i can’t connect farther.
I’m currently at a loss
Maybe i have to restart the PC to get a connect. I will see …

Hi,
you gave me the right approach to solve the problem. How the entry in the hosts file came is beyond me, since the file cannot be edited easily.
Have you had any bad experiences with it?

For what I have seen, except for resolving real DNS lookup problems, the most common use case for the hosts file is used to redirect license checking request to a non-existing blackhole (usually localhost or 127.0.0.1). But for a cracker, to make a pirate license work, it may worth making all “suspicious” domains unvisitable, which is www.sublimetext.com or whatever he/she thinks needed to be blocked.

Hi,
some time ago my friend helps me to realize a privat web project. For his work he installed ST3 on my computer. I think that he then installed such a version and also created the entry in the hosts file. It just scares me a little. shame on me :flushed:
Thanks for the help and your opinion.
