Does it still happen in safe mode?

I tried to use the safe mode option, but when i ran the command in the terminal it said there was no option for safe mode.

I was able to hold option and that was the only way to get into safe mode and everything works as expected. When i don’t use safe mode it still hangs, but at least the font window is gone now. Still hangs.
Guess I will have to manually remove some of my packages to see whats causing it.

What OS and what version of that OS are you using?

I can just nuke this thing from orbit and start over that would be great lol. Guess I can look at where State information is saved, it doesn’t seem Like an installed package is causing the issue and an uninstall re-install isn’t fixing it.

See here: https://www.sublimetext.com/docs/revert.html. Reinstalling does not affect any configuration.

Possibly related, since the latest update, ST has started hanging when using the Cmd+P (file search) dialog. It only happens intermittently (just twice now after a couple of days of use), but I have to force quit and restart. Also on a Mac Sonoma 14.6.1.

ST 4180 hangs during file search with LSP-ruff installed

That sounds unrelated. Does it happen in safe mode?

Hard to say. I had the issue happen a couple of more times recently. It seems to happen when I start typing into the file search, but then backspace to clear the search and type one more letter. I went into safe mode and searched and backspaced many times, and I couldn’t cause the crash. Then I restarted again in regular mode and repeatedly searched and backspaced, but again couldn’t replicate the issue. It seems it’s too intermittent to reliably replicate. I depend too much on the configuration to do real work in safe mode for more than a few minutes.

It could be something else on the system, so I’ll restart the OS and try some other things.

The other thing I changed recently is I updated my default Python version in my environment to be Python 3.13rc1 (from Python 3.13b2), which could be related, but seems unlikely.

ST doesn’t use your system’s python for plugins so that’s certainly unrelated.

removed all cache and all app support directories and its back to normal. Will report back if locking up again.

I’ve filed a separate thread for my issue.

Everything is working as expected and no further issues to report. Not sure what happened, but all is good now.
