Sublime for older versions of Mac OS

#1

Hi,

It would be really nice if Sublime would also be available for Mac OS 10.5. I guess there are others like me that still have older versions of Mac OS.

Thanks in advance,
Jeroen.

I’m not going to port my money to you, as I have 10.5.
What a pity, uh?

Yes: I was looking if there was the possibility to have this wonderful app on my mac, here at work, and the only thing I found is a superficial and impolite answer. Given to a (maybe) paying customer. It is not smart to deal with a prospective client in this way.
I wanted to say, so I spent 2 minutes to register.

How rude to not spend a lot of time to develop for a dead platform, 4 years old (like… let’s say osx 10.5?)
Shame on you, Jon! :imp:

His answer it’s rude, not the non-existent version. You really should read carefully before posting.
If Jon thinks another version isn’t convenient to develop, he is right not doing that.
I’m just saying that a more kind answer is better than rude one.

An answer like “I’m sorry guys, but a version for 10.5 is not convenient at the time, because this version of OSX is now very rare. Thanks anyway for your support” would have take 2 minutes and would have been certainly more polite and friendly.

Jon’s reply was not rude, but short and to the point. You should try not to be so easily offended, otherwise the internet can be an unpleasant experience.

I’m happily on internet from 15 years, that was just my opinion.

If you ask me, Jon gave a reasonable reply. He could just reply to No.

He could even not answer, that’s not the point.

The pity is that you don’t fully appreciate just how much work goes into supporting 4 platforms (Mac OS X, Windows 32/64-bit, Linux), plus watching this huge forum and taking the time to answer. It isn’t a trivial matter to support older versions of Mac OS X once you have decided to take advantage of features in newer versions of the OS. I’m amazed that one person is doing so much and that he had the time to answer you at all.

Have a little consideration and give the poor guy a break!

Ok, so I, too, took the effort to register just to post a comment.

Which, exactly, part of this response did you find rude? “Ported”? “10.5”?

If you ask someone on the street “What’s the time?”, and he respond “It’s quarter past nine.”, is it also rude? Because it would take him just 5 more seconds to say “It’s quarter past nine, my friend.”?

I’m asking politely because, as a developer, I myself would like to know better how to deal with customers. So, please, let us take a lesson from your pain and explain to us precisely, in what way that concise response was rude to you.
