Sublime crashes when i hover over the tools menu

#1

I recently downloaded sublime and everything was fine until yesterday when I hovered over the tools tab it crashed.
this happens every time I do it.

I uninstalled it and downloaded it again but nothing has changed.

I’m new to sublime so don’t be too harsh if its an easy fix.

It’s probably a plugin that does this. And when you uninstall ST, your plugin don’t get removed.

Can you give us the list of your plugin? (Preferences → Package Settings → Package Control → Settings — User)

All *.sublime-menu and maybe *.sublime-commands files need to be encoded using UTF-8. Using different encodings none ASCII characters will cause ST3 to crash. I guess due to UTF-8 decoding error. I struggled with such an issue recently, too, until I found one such file being encoded using Windows-1252.

If you have a way to reproduce, I’d like to fix crashes in such a situation. If you haven’t already, could you report at https://github.com/SublimeTextIssues/Core/issues?

I did not report as issue was resolved easily by saving the file with UTF-8 encoding. I just considered UTF-8 to be the required encoding and didn’t think about it any further. I can’t remember the file or the real content causing the crash.

A Windows-1252 encoded Main.sublime-menu containing umlauts (ä, ö, …) does not cause crash on a quick test, but the menu item’s caption keeps empty. Not sure whether this fact might cause crash in certain situations?

Will report as soon as I am able to reproduce.
