Sublime causing blue screen of death on Win 10

#1

I purchased ST3 and have been very happily using it. In fact, I’m addicted to it. I installed many packages that were very helpful. I just got a new work computer and moved all my files from the old (windows 7 64-bit) to the new (windows 10 64-bit). I installed ST3 b3143. It launches, but when I try to save a file or open a project or interact with the menu, it crashes my whole system with a blue screen of death, requiring a reboot. Windows 10 displays a Stop Code: CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED message. I have tried many things to resolve this problem (installing b3156, revert to fresh install, removed session files), but none have worked.

Please HELP. I don’t want to learn a new code editor. Any ideas?
PS. Recent discovery: If I run as admin, ST3 doesn’t crash. Permissions problem?

This error code indicates a crash of a critical internal windows process. Such kind of internal windows process crashes are most likely caused by defect RAM or buggy hardware drivers.

Was debugging such kind of occasional crashes some time ago. Everything seemed working well until the system got busy and the RAM usage increased to a certain limit. Suddenly processes died, which never did. Finally replaced the RAM modules and everything was working fine again.

As ST uses a GPU accelerated GUI framework, you could check for new GPU drivers.

If ST still crashes even without any package being installed, debugging becomes hard.

I use ST3156 on Win10 Pro 1709 x64 with a nvidia 980GTX without any such kind of issues.

Thanks for this information deathaxe. Would a GPU driver or RAM defect be affected by running as admin? I will look for a GPU driver update.
