Hi. It’s Saturday, and I’m doing some day-job work on my Macbook, VPN-d into work and with a half dozen NFS mounts.
I go off to do something in another room, and the Macbook suspends while I’m gone. The VPN disconnects.
I come back, wake up the laptop and continue working. Since I’m not currently trying to access anything on the NFS mounts, I don’t reconnect the VPN. I’m also pretty sure none of my files open in Sublime 3 are hosted on the NFS shares.
Eventually, Sublime 3 hangs, showing me the infamous Mac “Spinning Pizza of Death” (aka SPOD). I poke around a bit and take a spindump, and eventually reconnect the VPN because why not. At this point, Sublime comes back. and all is fine.
I don’t really have a question, now that I know reconnecting the VPN will unfreeze things, but:
- I wanted others to know and
- I want to know if developers would find the spindump file useful? If so I will send it along.
