Sublime 3 Crashes Silently at Startup

#1

Looks like a lot of people had same problem and by deleting sublime 3 folder under user/APPDATA to get this sorted out.

I use windows 10. ST3 has been working just fine on this machine until about 2 weeks ago when it just started not working for unknown reason.

I do not get it fixed by simply deleting the APPDATA’s ST3 folder. I restart/delete the folder/reinstall do whatever in order, ST3 will crash silently without merit. ST2 still works so I am using it for now, however it’s not as cool as ST3. Please help!

interesting, normally removing ST’s data folder is enough to fix most problems. I take it the portable version also doesn’t work, either 32bit or 64bit?

are there any crash dump files created in the folder where ST’s executable is?

does disabling virus scanners temporarily make a difference?

This is 64bit version. I did not try portable version. I don’t know difference between portable/regular.

It is strange that when it first began crashing, there was some weird files generated at the ST’s folder, but now it does not creating anything. I just see that task manager has sublime text in the process for just 1 minute and disappear when I open it. No window pops up.

I tried with virus scanner disabled. It does not work. :frowning:

Thanks for looking into the issue for me though!

Hi,

I tried using portable version. This creates some DMP files, which I believe ST creates automatically when it crashes. Does this help at all for potential cure?
Thanks,

Jay

it could do, especially if you are able to share the file, or at least the info in it (viewable in Microsoft Visual Studio in my experience), as it should contain the exception details and we may be able to guess what the problem is

How shall I share this with you? I do not have MSVS and it’s not allowing me to upload this file…
I can just post the raw jibberish inside this thing though.
