Sublime 2: find and replace exceedingly slow (normal or regex)

#1

I’ve been using Sublime on a daily basis since last fall. Simple find and replace can lock it up for several minutes.

My current example, a 330kb plain text file. I removed all of the CRs so it was a one-line document. That’s 7410 replacements.

I replaced “\n” with " "

This took over five minutes on a 3.1ghz i7 mac with 16GB of ram and relatively little else going on.

Is this typical? Is there a fix? I have used other editors and something like this might take 10 or 15 seconds, tops.

Find in Files is very slow in ST3

So, I am guessing then that this is just a users supporting each other sort of forum? Is there no way to get an answer on an issue from the people I bought this software from?

The devs do reply on the forum. But in your case, you are running extremely old, unsupported software. Try using ST3.

HA! That was all I needed- I saw that ST3 was in beta when I grabbed ST2 last fall, so I skimmed past it… problem solved. The same find and replace with ST3 took only 10 seconds or so. Thanks Keith!
