Subl cannot find Sublime Text on OSX

#1

I’ve been using Sublime Text via the subl command for years, but today it has suddenly stopped working. I’m on OS X El Capitan, 10.11.6. Nothing obvious has changed - I haven’t upgraded ST or OS X. Running subl now gives me the error “Unable to find Sublime Text”. Google only turns up results discussing this problem when using sudo, which I am not. Running /Applications/Sublime\ Text.app/Contents/SharedSupport/bin/subl produces the same error message.

I’m running ST stable, build 3114.

Any ideas how to diagnose this further?

I noticed that typing subl . at the command line was just transferring control to an already-open window.

I realised that I’d rebooted, and macOS automaticaly restored the Sublime windows. So I shut down all the Sublime windows that were open (I force-closed them since both 2 that were open were just note windows that I hadn’t explicitly saved anywhere). Then I issued subl . to work on a project and it seemed to come back normally.

This was after the latest macOS security update (10.11.6 15G31), and AFAIK this hadn’t happened before.

For whatever reason, this seems to have sorted itself out after restarting my computer.
