ST4 shift + keypad always numlocked?

There is a git issue for this problem I’m having on Dell laptop with Ubuntu 18.04.
My muscle memory is shift + up/down for multi-line selection, but I get 2s or 8s regardless of numlock mode.
Unfortunately the “pure” arrow keys on this laptop are not where my brain expects them.
Any known workarounds?

This worked for me:

1. Install gnome-tweaks package
2. gnome-tweaks -> Keyboard & Mouse -> Additional Layout Options -> … Num Lock Off: Windows
