I have a long journal file about 22K lines, and in this file is very laggy in ST3. It’s fine in ST2. In ST3 each keystroke takes about 1s to process. ST3 build 3047 on OSX 10.8. I have the “Git” and “GitGutter” packages but I tried removing them and restarting ST3 and the lag is there, so I suspect ST3 itself is not dealing with very long files all that well.
