ST3 editing disabled on Mac

#1

Hi ST help people

I’ve somehow pressed a keystroke combo that has disabled editing in ST3.

None of the arrow keys or characters will work but shortcuts still do.

Initially, the cursor flashed like on a win machine when the insert key is pressed. After I press cmd alt o (toggle overwrite), it goes back to the line.

Looking at the console, I can see actual keypresses are registered, but nothing happens in the file.

This is on an as yet unregistered version of ST3 (I will be getting work to pay for it shortly) on a Mac with High Sierra.

I would suggest that perhaps you have a VIM package enabled such as Vintage (i.e. it would say something like COMMAND MODE at the start of the status line), but that shouldn’t interfere with the arrow keys at all.

Except in the case of the buffer being marked as read-only, I’m not aware of any core command that in any way disables editing, and even in that case the cursor keys would still work even if typing doesn’t.

Does it do this in all files or only in some of them?

Thanks for your reply OdatNurd. Found it. It was ActualVim.

I don’t even know what it is or how it got there but it rendered ST useless when it was activated.
