you can, just select the line and the (un)stage hunk button will change to (un)stage line

Apologies for resurrecting an ancient thread, but 2-odd years later, I just had the exact same confusing moment. So, is it not perhaps an idea to make it a little more obvious? I can’t imagine how many other users could be missing this feature…
What about conditionally showing a “(Un)Stage Lines” button inline with the selected lines?

The home page of Sublime Merge actually shows an example of how to (un)stage lines in the GIF video part if you aren’t aware.

I wasn’t aware of that, but also I don’t think that’s a valid reason to not make the app UI more user friendly…
