Slow Undo on 3069

#1
  • Operating System: OS X 10.10.2
  • Sublime Text version (including build number): Version 3 Build 3069

Holding down Command+Z to quickly undo multiple changes is noticeably slower than it used to be. Strangely enough doing this with redo (Command+Shift+Z) seems to still be buttery smooth, it’s just undo that’s effected.

To reproduce, downloaded and play around with undo on Build 3065 and take note of how it feels doing multiple undo operations rapidly in succession. Then download the latest Build 3069 and do the same. I do not know if this is an OS X specific issue or not.

I don’t know if the problem is worse in 3069, but this is an issue I’ve had for quite some time (3066 and possibly earlier versions). Some undo operations literally take minutes.

It SEEMS the problem may be related to undoing multiple selection edits or big files, but I’m not 100% on that.

I’m seeing this as well on OSX 10.10.2 and Sublime 3069. If I hold the undo hotkey and let it repeat, it lags noticeably, but if I then hold the redo hotkey, it runs at full speed. This appears to happen for me regardless of what is in the undo buffer.

Other notes:
I’ve got the following plugins: BufferScroll, FileDiffs, Git, Haxe, HexViewer, InactivePanes, Missing Palette Commands, Open Finder, Origami, Package Control, Plaintasks.
I’ve got three columns, each with multiple tabs. The far left has a bunch of Plaintask .todo files, the middle and right each have a mix of multiple files from a variety of syntaxes.

I’m getting all kinds of slow key repeat action in this build. I’m noticing it more in the “Selection” category. Holding down “Add Next|Previous Line” seems like its hitting the keys for me instead of just zooming along at a proper speed. It even highlights the menu bar like I’m pressing the keys repeatedly instead of holding it down. This was not the previous behaviour.

I’m running ST3 build 3069 on OS X 10.10.2. The amount of text in the window doesn’t seem to matter.

Steps to recreate:

  1. open a new window or tab
  2. type 10-20 lines of stuff
  3. try to expand the selection by holding down the key commands

Notice that the “Selection” menu lights up repeatedly and the selection proceeds very slowly. :frowning:

Thanx!
Richard

I can confirm that tonights Build 3070 fixes all the speed issues I addressed in the original post. The source of the issue seems to be exposed in the change log:

Thanks for the quick fix, Jon!
