I can’t say this isn’t my fault (hence General vs Tech Support) but at some point my /private/etc/hosts file got saved with Mac OS 9 line endings. I’m using ST in Mac OS 10.9 and my line ending setting is ‘system’ (a default).
The hosts file never has a file extension.
I happened to run the ‘cat’ command in the shell and watched the file spew out all on one line. Before that I’d been going mad troubleshooting my virtual hosts setup.
I am impressed with SublimeText for the most part but the above made me wonder if the app needs to guard itself against saving files in the long-obsolete Mac OS 9 format.
Or maybe it does already and the problem emerged between keyboard and chair…
