SFTP paid upgrade for ST3?

#1

I’m using ST3. I’ve recently started getting a prompt about every 10th time I save a file. It says:

SFTP
Thanks for being an SFTP customer. Version 2 has been released as a paid upgrade.
Please visit https://codexns.io/sftp_upgrade for details.

Is this legitimate? Mandated? Seems odd I should have to pay for SFTP in Sublime Text when it’s already installed on the host server I’m uploading to. Feels more like spam or phishing. If I upgrade to ST4 will I have to pay for this again?

SFTP in this case is a commercial third party Sublime Text package that allows you to access remote file systems within Sublime (not to be confused with sftp the protocol, which the package can use among other options). As such, the message is indeed legitimate because the author released a version 2 not so long ago that was a paid upgrade from version 1.

The version of Sublime you use does not matter; the license in this case is for the package in particular and not the version of Sublime that you run it in.

If you don’t wish to purchase a license upgrade, you would need to install the previous version and then add SFTP to the package control settings to the list of packages to not auto upgrade.

Thanks, OdatNurd,
Since it’s legit, I’ll go ahead and get it.
