Does anyone know if there’s a way to add a search bar onto the sidebar above or below the folders list? I know you can right-click them to search or use the shortcut keys, but is a small permanent search bar possible?

The context menu open’s the Find in Files panel with the selected folder being added to the Where field. I wonder how an embedded search bar should know about the selected folder?
If such a search bar was meant to filter the visible sidebar items only, it would most likely duplicate the Goto Anywhere Quick Panel functionality.

I was thinking more a search bar that would search all the directories you have added to the sidebar
