Save Batch or CMD Files for Windows Notepad?

#1

Sorry for the newb question, but can’t seem to find simple answer.

I created / edited about 10 windows batch files today and got them all setup the way I like them in Sublime, but when I open them in notepad on the Windows side it is cramming a bunch of the lines together.

I’ve tried saving in different types of encoding, at least 5 different types, been google searching for about a half hour now, including searching these forums and looking at the FAQs.

Sorry to ask such an easy question but how do I save these batch files so that it’s proper for the Windows side of things / notepad etc?

Thanks,
Jordan Austin

You have to change line ending from linux to windows

// Determines what character(s) are used to terminate each line in new files. // Valid values are 'system' (whatever the OS uses), 'windows' (CRLF) and // 'unix' (LF only). "default_line_ending": "system",

I’d recommend creating a syntax specific setting, so Windows new lines only apply to those files (don’t want to mess up other stuff right?).

I can’t believe how painfully obvious “line endings” is for exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks, I spent way too long looking at everything but that .
