Restoring Package User Settings to default

I modified one of the User Preference files for a Package Setting. I decided that I wanted to revert to the default (empty) settings by simply deleting the changes. However, when execute the command I receive the following system alert popup:

Error trying to parse settings: No data in ~/Library/Application Support/Sublime Text 2/Packages/User/View In Browser.sublime-settings:1:1

The command works fine, but the error message needs to get sorted out.

I realize I could simply copy the defaults to my User Settings, but this doesn’t seem like a wise approach. Any info about why deleting the contents of the preference file isn’t a sufficient restoration, from a technical standpoint, would be appreciated if any of you feel so inclined.

Wow, I feel like a bit of a jackass. I deleted the preference from the User folder inside the Packages directory and this resolved the problem. I’ll make a note to try to use a little more brainpower before I waste anybody’s time here asking web 1.0 questions here.
