Reposting the question: How to stop opening an extra empty file?

#1

I posted this question about two weeks ago and got no answer. I am trying it here, again:

I’ve upgraded recently to the latest ST from 3. Now, when I open a txt file (or some other file too, like py or R etc.) ST automatically opens an extra empty file, lingering behind the one I wanted open. How can I stop this behaviour? I am using ST 4143 on macOS Ventura.

Thanks!

How are you opening the file?

Typically, with a double click in Finder (or Cmd+DownArrow)

Is it opening a 2nd window or an extra tab?

It’s always the 2nd window.

This was fixed in 4145:

Mac: Fixed extra window being created when ST is launched by opening a file from finder

The current stable build is 4143. Should I go for 4145 or the latest 4147? Thanks!

If you’re willing to deal with the lower stability of dev builds I’d always recommend running the latest unless there’s a bug stopping you from doing so.
