Regex Highlight

#1

I used to use a MAC and when doing a find and search using a regex… Everytime there was a match, Sublime will highlight the match on all instances with a clear box.

I recently started use anothe laptop and now Sublime does not highlight the match live. I have to click find in order to see the match.

Is there a way to fix it?? some settings that I need to do to make it possible like my Mac??

Do you have the “Highlight Matches” button enabled? Is the file especially large?

Thank you bschaaf…

Where is that button?? I did an internet search and do not see any documentation on this function. On my Mac I did not had to do that… I guess it was enabled by default. where do I find it on Ubuntu/Mint?

the file is an experimental file… literately have 4 line in it… just to find out that feature.

Much appriciated

OK… interesting… I see what I was doing wrong…

That button shows up only on ‘find’ (ctrl + F) but not on ‘Find and replace’ (Ctrl + Shift + F). Do you know why??

Thanks in advance

It shows up in Find:

And in Find and Replace:

It does not however show up in Find in Files (which is what your screenshot above shows):

The reason for that is that Find in Files sends the search results directly to a panel or find in files tab (based on your setting on the button), isn’t dynamic, and shows you all of the results at once. So by definition all of the results are already highlighted because they’re in the results. You would need to do the find again from within the results to see the matches in that case.

Thank you OdatNurd!!

I’m used to do from the mac Ctrl+shift+F whereas I see now that the Ctrl+H is what I should have been using in Ubuntu/Mint.

Thank you all again!!
