My Sublime Text 4 just informed me that an update was available. Since I installed it using snap I wanted to update it using snap but snap tells me that no ST updates are available. My current build is 4121 and the latest build is 4126.

We don’t ship Sublime Text using snap, so that’s being provided by a third party. I’d suggest using the official repository or asking whoever makes the snap to update it.
So how was I able to install ST from snap? Wasn’t it you who published ST in snap?

Nope. As I said the snap is provided by a 3rd party - no association with Sublime HQ.
ST was available both via Snap within Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and via the APT package installer, named sublime-text.
Like yourself, I originally went to Snap after switching to Ubuntu.
But on general advice about Snap from Linux veterans, I removed all Snap applications that were available via the APT package installer. I would advise you to do likewise if you can.
The same applies to Sublime Merge - currently at version 2068.
I got the ST v.4126 and SM v.2068 updates today via the APT updater.
