QUestion for customizing for a disabled user

#1

I am interested in buying a copy of sublime text for my son, but have a few questions. He has some disabilities and uses a touchpad and mouse most of the time since typing commands are so difficult. Is there a way or plugin that I can create and dock commands to a sidebar?

There’s no way to create a sidebar with the current API, but you can create a quick panel with a list of his most used commands. It will not be visible all the time, but you can attribute a shortcut key to show it (you can even use only one key to bring it up). You can also add an extra menu to the menubar, with a custom command list, so he can access it easily with the mouse.

Alternatively, you can use the Command Palette, which gives you quick access to most commands, the key combination is pretty tricky for some disabled people (cmd+shift+p), but you can remap it to something simpler on the user keybindings configuration.

A tad off-topic… but I have a family member with disabilities and had great success combining many text editors with Penfriend XP.

Thank you for your answers. He is sort of has his mind set on Sublime Text since his friends are using it. The key bindings would be difficult but I thinnk the custom comman list might be the way to go. If you can point me in the right direction regarding instructions to setup I would really appreciate it.
